The plan
Day by day
-
01
Glasgow → Fort William
Leave Glasgow after breakfast and watch the city thin into lochs, moor and mountain. Arrive in time for an evening walk along Loch Linnhe.
West Highland Line -
02
Fort William ↔ Mallaig
The short run to Mallaig in steam when the Jacobite is running, or on the regular service out of season — either way the Glenfinnan Viaduct is the moment. Walk the silver sands at Morar if the tide is right.
The Jacobite Steam Train -
03
Fort William → Glasgow
Sit the opposite side for a different view of the moor, or stay on the same side and relive the best bits before the train drops back into the Lowlands.
