Access
Public footpath
Public paths from the visitor centre and the station; the hillside paths are steep and can be muddy.
Lineside rules
Stay on public land and behind barriers. Never enter the track, cross a fence or ignore a sign. Trespass is a criminal offence in many countries; local rules may be stricter.
This location: Stay on marked paths; the hillside is steep and the railway is active. No access onto the viaduct.
Best time
Afternoon.
The classic view looks north-east into the hillside; afternoon light is usually better for the viaduct and steam.
