Tehachapi Loop
The famous spiral where a long freight train can cross over itself. The loop is best seen from the public overlook above Walong on the Tehachapi grade.

Public road
Public overlook and roadside viewing areas above the loop; do not enter railway property.
Lineside rules
Stay on public land and behind barriers. Never enter the track, cross a fence or ignore a sign. Trespass is a criminal offence in many countries; local rules may be stricter.
This location: Stay behind the fence and off the tracks. The grade is active freight territory.
Best time
Morning.
The overlook faces the loop; morning light is usually best. Heat haze can soften long lenses in summer.
