The railway will play an important role in transporting people to, from and through the center of Oslo on Wednesday. With major changes to traffic and public transport above ground in the Oslo area in connection with the funeral, the railway will be extra important.
Trains are running, noisy work is stopped and one minute of silence is observed
We will stop noisy work during the funeral. At our stations, offices and other locations, we encourage a minute of silence where possible, as long as it does not affect safety or train traffic. At the stations, we will use the public address systems before 1:00 p.m. to inform about the minute of silence.
– The railway will play an important role in providing a good service to people travelling to, from and through the centre of Oslo that day. With major changes in traffic and public transport in the Oslo area in connection with the funeral, the railway will be extra important, and stopping train traffic will be too risky, says Tonje Wikstrøm Frislid, Executive Vice President for Traffic at Bane NOR.
– The police have emphasized that it is particularly important that the railway maintains normal operations on this day to ensure accessibility and handle the expected large crowds in a safe manner.
Tips for travelers to and from Oslo
On September 9th, we recommend that travelers use Oslo S if possible, and avoid getting on and off at Nationaltheatret station. At Nationaltheatret station, a lot of people/crowds are expected in the area. If travelers must use Nationaltheatret station, we recommend entering/exiting the west side of the station at Henrik Ibsen gate/Solli plass.
