Continuous operation since 1882 — coal-fired steam through the San Juan National Forest along the Animas River.

The D&SNG has run continuously between Durango and the mining town of Silverton for over 140 years, climbing through the Animas River Gorge on 3ft gauge track. National Historic Landmark with a working roundhouse in Durango.
