Affiliate Disclosure

This page explains how affiliate and commercial links work on LopoRail — including the gear registry.
1. Affiliate links
Some links on LopoRail, including gear recommendations, are affiliate links. If you click one and buy, we may earn a commission from the retailer or the affiliate programme. This is one of the ways we fund the site.
2. It costs you nothing extra
Buying through an affiliate link does not change the price you pay. Any commission is paid by the retailer, not added to your price.
3. It doesn't affect our recommendations
Affiliate relationships do not influence which gear we list, how we describe it, or how recommendations are ranked. We include gear on its merits for railway photography, spotting and modelling — and we may list items that have no affiliate link at all.
4. Second-hand gear
Second-hand gear is traded through LopoRail's own escrow marketplace, not through affiliate links. Those transactions are governed by our marketplace terms (shipping, fees, vendor verification) and are not commissions from a third-party retailer.
5. Third-party retailers
When you follow a link to a retailer you leave LopoRail, and the retailer's own terms, prices and availability apply. For affiliate purchases we are not the seller — the retailer is responsible for the sale, delivery and returns.
6. Cookies and tracking
Clicking an affiliate link may set a cookie or tracking identifier from the retailer or affiliate network so that a commission can be attributed. See our Cookie Policy and Privacy Choices for what is set and how to control it.
