Sydney Trains will farewell the much-loved K Set fleet tomorrow, Friday 2 October, with the train making its final timetabled passenger run before retiring from regular operations.

The final run will depart Central at 10:31am on the T1 North Shore and T9 Northern Line, travelling on a different route than originally planned. Passengers will travel via Redfern, Strathfield, Epping, and Hornsby. The train will depart Hornsby at 11:38am returning via Chatswood and Milsons Point. From Milsons Point it will be all stops to Central, Redfern, Strathfield and will terminate at Olympic Park at 12:53pm.

The final journey follows the K Set’s farewell tour, which was paused on Thursday morning following safety concerns earlier in the week.

Sydney Trains has worked to provide a safe environment for our passengers and staff on tomorrow’s run, with on-board security personnel to be deployed in each carriage, supported by transport officers and NSW Police.

Sydney Trains thanks the overwhelming majority of passengers and rail fans who have celebrated the K Set respectfully throughout the week and asks everyone travelling on tomorrow’s final run to help keep it safe and enjoyable for all.

The K Set has served Sydney passengers for four decades, and tomorrow’s journey will mark the fleet’s final farewell before it is retired from regular operations.

The K Set will also be featured alongside other historic train sets at the Transport Heritage Expo over the October long weekend. For more information visit: transportheritageexpo.com
